THE ONE OF A KIND AUDIO PLUG-IN
Trackspacer is an award-nominated plug-in that creates space in a mix by carving the frequencies that the main track needs into another track in real time. Trackspacer is no ordinary plug-in, it is similar to a sidechain compressor plug-in but much more powerful and transparent. It’s considered a secret mixing weapon by many artists, producers, and engineers. TapeOp said “I would call this a secret-weapon plug-in, but the word is hereby out! TrackSpacer is a ridiculously affordable, easy way to get various elements of your mix to interact in useful and musical ways… Final words: buy it! It works!”
TRACKSPACER - THE SECRET MIXING WEAPON OF PROFESSIONALS
The Trackspacer plug-in features a 32 band EQ that reacts to the incoming sidechain signal. It analyses the spectrum of the sidechain and applies a reversed EQ curve to another track. As if by magic, Trackspacer creates space for the primary track by cutting the exact frequencies on other tracks. No more fighting for space for the vocal in a mix, or any other instrument for that matter. If you have a solo that needs the room to breathe then Trackspacer makes the task easy – complicated automation moves on your mix are a thing of the past!
With the introduction of version 2.0 the Trackspacer plug-in got a host of improvements. Introducing M/S or L/R modes now you can apply the effect only to the mid-channel, the sides or anything in between. With the attack and release controls, you can set how Trackspacer reacts to the incoming signal and how it processes it, making it smoother or punchier like a regular compressor plug-in.
Download the free demo and try Trackspacer. You will soon see how Trackspacer plug-in can be a time saver (or sometimes a life saver) in many situations. Insert it on the bass track and have it listen to the kick, set the amount of effect to be applied gradually and hear how the kick cuts through the mix. Try it on vocals, guitars, snare, overheads, acoustic guitar, synth, pads… you name it you’ll find a lot of uses for the Trackspacer plug-in.
WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 2.5
Lighter CPU, Bigger UI, Better UX
Trackspacer has been ported to a new framework, coded from the ground-up in order to keep it simple for making regular updates and improvements. The #1 request we’ve got since its original release has been lowering the CPU consumption, and that’s what we’ve done in this update. We also re-created the whole UI from scratch, making it bigger (600 x 600 instead of 400 x 400) making is suitable for modern displays.
There is only one installer now instead of a different binary for demo and full versions. When installing the demo you’ll be able to enter the serial number at anytime and turn it to the full version without having to install anything else.
Support for RTAS has been dropped as well as support for MacOS 10.5 and 10.6, and Windows XP and Vista.
Trackspacer helps me clear out frequency areas that conflict with one another. It’s super easy to set up and intuitive to use. It currently finds its way in to a lot of my mixes.
I use Trackspacer all over my mixes, like for killing ugly bleed in drum tracks, pocketing bass and kick, ducking guitars under vocals, etc. It really reduces the amount of savage EQing or gating I need to do, which is awesome. The secret’s out!
Audio processors react to an input signal and produce an output one. This input signal can be the direct or external, the external is also called “side-chain”. It is very common to use a sidechain compressor, specially in EDM, to duck a track based on the level of another audio track (i.e. pumping effect).
TRACKSPACER VS COMPRESSION
Compressors react to the amplitude/volume/level of the audio signal on the track. Based on how loud the source signal is, they apply more or less compression. Multiband compressors split the signal in different bands and apply different settings on each band, but the detection is still the same as regular ones. Trackspacer splits the source signal into 32 bands and analyses them individually. Then, it reverses the result and applies a 32 band EQ to duck the tracks on problem tracks by exactly the same frequencies, giving the source track the space it needs to occupy in the mix… and all in real time! That’s why the Trackspacer plug-in is much better, more transparent and easier to use than regular compressors. It’s all in the detection!
I think this thing is amazing! I’ve started to use it on tracks to help me sculpt the mix.
Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best, and the idea behind Trackspacer is so simple that I’m surprised I’ve never seen another plug-in that does the same thing.
Trackspacer is original, slick and effective, and well worth investigating.
Great stuff and I’m just starting to get the hang of this plug-in — I love it.
It just seemed to my ears to clear space in a wall-of-sound type mix better than straight compression.
We tried this in a variety of mix situations and found it performed perfectly well for any task.
