SK-10 Drum Sub-kick Simulator Plug-in

SK-10 is a drum sub-kick simulator. A sub-kick mic is a particular microphone used primarily for recording kick drums. It’s essentially a speaker converted into a microphone. Thanks to its diameter a sub-kick mic captures a lot of low end and it’s a perfect fit along your regular kick mic for boosting the low frequencies.

It’s the secret weapon of a lot of top engineers and producers enabling them to get much bigger kick drum sounds when recording a kit. It’s used a lot in rock and metal drum production, but can be used in any genre to thicken up a thin kick drum sound.

If your kick is lacking some thump or body,  SK10 is a free plugin that simulates a Subkick microphone. Add low end to your tracks in a very natural way without EQ and using the intuitive controls. SK10 is available for Mac and Windows in VST, Audio Units, and AAX formats.

SnareBuzz – Snare Buzz Simulator Plug-in

Snare drums are constructed from all sorts of materials including wood, brass, plastic, composite, fibreglass and even perspex, but one thing connects them all and that is the snare.

The common kit snare drum is made up of two heads, the top head which is hit by the stick and then the bottom head which includes the rattle, which is constructed by a series of wires stretched across the head. The snare can be made tight or loose, this can make the snare sound vary in it’s ‘crack’ or ‘rattle.’

Stand in any studio where there’s a drum kit and every now and again the snare drum will buzz is sympathy with other tones in the room.

SnareBuzz is a free plug-in that simulates the sympathetic resonance produced by the wires of a snare drum when another sound source is playing near. You may have a snare track recorded with only a microphone on the top head, use our free SnareBuzz plug-in to add the effect of the bottom head. Or use SnareBuzz Use it as a psycho-acoustic effect for bringing realism to your tracks.

SnareBuzz is available for Mac and Windows, 32 and 64 bit in Audio Units, VST, VST3 and AAX formats.

  • When you get the whole mix going, suddenly the kick is full and fat and lovely and cuts through really nicely. Great plugin, especially for free. Thanks!
